Support the class teacher and the school to ensure curriculum objectives are met in line with the job description and person specification.

What We're Looking For

• A passionate and committed educational professional
• Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification
• Experience working with pupils with additional needs (SEN experience highly desirable)

Safeguarding

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed member of staff to become our school's Occupational Therapy (OT) Champion. As our OT Champion, you will play a key role in promoting occupationally informed practice across the school, supporting colleagues to remove barriers to learning and helping to create inclusive environments where all pupils can thrive. The role includes working closely with school leaders, teaching staff and therapists to embed sustainable improvements within everyday practice.

What Will the Role Involve?

• Attend six mandatory training days throughout the academic year
• Act as a champion for occupationally informed practice across the school
• Support staff in understanding participation, regulation, sensory needs, executive functioning, motor development and functional independence
• Share learning from training through coaching, mentoring and support for colleagues
• Assist with monitoring the impact of interventions and whole-school initiatives
• Work collaboratively with leaders, therapists and staff teams to support school improvement priorities

The postholder will initially remain in their existing classroom role for three days per week and will be released for two days per week to undertake OT Champion responsibilities.

What Are We Looking For?

• A relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification
• Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs
• A strong understanding of SEND, inclusion, participation and barriers to learning
• Excellent communication, organisation, collaboration and problem-solving skills
• The ability to motivate and positively influence colleagues
• A reflective, resilient and proactive approach to supporting school improvement

Desirable Criteria

• Experience of leadership, coaching, mentoring or delivering training
• Knowledge of sensory processing, regulation, ADHD-informed practice, executive functioning and motor development
• Experience of leading projects, innovation, professional networks or workforce development initiatives
