Key Features & Facilities
Fully accessible throughout
The entire building is designed around full accessibility. Specialist lifts connect both floors, all doorways and corridors are wide enough for wheelchairs and mobility equipment, and accessible toilet and changing facilities are available across both floors. Every decision about layout and finishes has been made with our pupils' physical needs in mind.
Purpose-designed catering
The school has a full catering kitchen with a dedicated food preparation and servery suite, designed to produce fresh meals for the whole school each day. The servery connects directly into the assembly/dining hall, making mealtimes a smooth and enjoyable part of the school day.
Designed for safety and safeguarding
Safeguarding has been a key consideration throughout the design process. The building layout, entrance sequence, and access control have all been planned to meet the school's rigorous safeguarding requirements — including secure zoning, clear sightlines, and a managed reception and visitor process.
A space for families too
A dedicated parents' room gives families a welcoming space when they visit. Meeting rooms for confidential conversations and offices for visiting professionals — including therapists, social workers, and other specialists who work with our pupils — are built into the design.
Sustainability
The new building has been designed with sustainability in mind, including solar panels on the roof and energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems. The project is working towards a Net Zero in Operation standard, which means the building is designed to minimise its carbon footprint over its lifetime.
A school built for the future
With 163 rooms across two floors and over 2,800 square metres of space, the new Baskerville School is a significant step forward — not just in size, but in what it makes possible for our pupils, our staff, and our community. We look forward to welcoming everyone through the doors when it opens.
