What the New School Will Look Like
The new Baskerville School has been designed by AtkinsRéalis alongside our contractor Tilbury Douglas, working closely with the school throughout to make sure every decision reflects what our pupils and staff actually need.
The building sits within our existing green setting in Harborne, and the design makes the most of that — with large windows bringing natural light into classrooms, views out onto the surrounding trees and grounds, and thoughtfully landscaped outdoor spaces for pupils to enjoy.
The building
The new school is a two-storey building with a total floor area of around 2,800 square metres, housing 163 individual spaces across two floors. The exterior is clean and modern, designed to be welcoming and easy to navigate for pupils with a wide range of needs.
The entrance lobby is bright and clearly laid out, with a dedicated reception desk and secure access into the school. Classrooms are spacious and purpose-designed for small group specialist teaching, with wide doorways, level access throughout, and plenty of natural light.
The assembly hall
At the heart of the school is a generous double-height assembly hall seating over 100 pupils — a space for whole-school gatherings, performances, and events. It includes stage lighting, direct access to outdoor space, and an adjacent servery so it can also function as the school's dining hall.
Outdoor Spaces
The landscaping around the new school has been carefully planned, with reinforced grassed areas for outdoor learning and play, a refreshed peace garden, and new pedestrian routes around the site. Dedicated drop-off facilities have been designed with our families in mind, keeping arrivals and departures safe and straightforward.
