This page is where we'll share regular updates on how the build is progressing. From groundworks to the finished building, we'll post photos and updates here so that families, pupils, and the wider community can follow along as the new Baskerville School takes shape.
New Build Update — Services Going In!
Another great couple of weeks on site!
Plasterboard is now up in a number of the corridors, and first fix mechanical and electrical work is well underway — copper pipework and cable trays running overhead, ready for the final fit-out. It's brilliant to see the building's "veins and arteries" taking shape behind the walls.
Up on the roof, the solar panel mounting frames are now installed across a large section — you can really see how much of the roof they'll cover once the panels themselves go in. The roof waterproofing is complete too, giving a great first look at the finished surface.
There's still plenty to do, but each update shows real progress. It's exciting to think how close the building now is to feeling like a finished school.

New Build Update — Inside the New School!
For the first time, we can properly walk through the corridors and rooms of the new school — and it's an amazing feeling!
Internal walls are now up throughout the building, with plasterboard going on fast, fire-rated insulation being fitted, and first fix electrics already in place along the ceilings. You can really get a sense of the layout now — corridors, classrooms, and doorways are all taking shape.
One space that's really starting to stand out is the main entrance our pupils and staff will use every day, leading straight out to the grounds. It's a lovely first glimpse of what will be a real focal point of daily school life.
There's still plenty of work ahead before it's finished, but walking through it for the first time really brings home just how far things have come.

New Build Update — It's Really Taking Shape!
Wow, what a difference a couple of weeks makes!
Since our topping out ceremony, the external walls have really come on, windows and some doors are now in place, and the roof waterproofing is complete — with the mounting frames for our solar panels now going in too, which will cover most of the roof.
For the first time, you can really see the character of the finished building coming through — it's starting to look like a proper school rather than a construction site!
Over the summer holidays, work has also been taking place in the car park, with new ducting and pipework being installed — underground tubes and pipes for cables and water connections. It's a great time for this kind of groundwork to happen while the site is quieter.

New Build Update — Step Inside!
For the first time, we're able to give you a proper look inside the new school!
Using clever software, these images pair up photos taken on site with 3D models of how each space will look once complete — so you can see exactly what's taking shape behind the scenes. From the reception area and classrooms to the kitchen, offices, and the impressive double-height sports hall, the layout of the new school is really coming to life.
It's fascinating to see the finished rooms mapped against the building as it stands today — a real glimpse of what's to come for our pupils and staff.

New Build Update — Special Delivery! - 16/6/2026
A bit of a spectacle on site yesterday — a huge crane arrived to lift building materials and supplies up onto the upper floors of the new school!
It was there and gone in a day, but you can see the packs of materials it left behind, staged across the decking and ready for the next stage of construction.
It's a real sign of how far things have come — the building now dominates the site, and with both floors and the roof deck in place, the full scale of the new school is clearer than ever. There's always something new to see as the build progresses!

Work Powers On! - 8/6/2026
We're delighted to share the latest from site — and things are moving fast!
Since the steelwork was completed, the team have wasted no time pushing on to the next stage. The metal floor decking is now fully in place across both levels, the ground floor concrete slab is being poured, and both stairwells are now in place — you can even see the team up on the first floor and roof in our latest photos!
It's wonderful to watch the building develop week by week. What was a bare steel frame just a few weeks ago is rapidly becoming a proper two-storey building, and the scale of the new school is more impressive every time we look.

Steel Frame Complete! - 15/5/2026
Two weeks since our last update, and we've reached a major milestone - the steel framing is now complete!
The full steel structure is now standing across both floors, and you can see the building in its entirety. Safety netting is in place, and the complete footprint and height of the new school is now clearly visible.
The transformation from empty ground to a complete steel frame has been remarkable to watch. The two-storey building now stands tall and you can really get a sense of the scale and layout of the new school - it's looking very impressive!
With the frame complete, work will now move on to the next phase of the build. Over the coming weeks, the external cladding will begin and the building will start to look more and more like a finished school.

Multiple Floors Now Taking Shape! - 30/4/2026
Ten days since our last update, and the progress continues at an impressive pace.
The steel frame has extended further across the site, and you can now clearly see the building rising to multiple storeys. Floor decking is being installed on the upper levels, and safety netting has been put in place around the structure. The framework is really taking shape now, stretching across the full footprint of the building.
With the crane on site and steel deliveries continuing, the construction team is making rapid progress. You can see stacks of steel ready to be erected, and work is ongoing across all levels of the structure. The framing work is scheduled to be completed by the end of next week, which is a major milestone for the project.
The scale of the new school is becoming very clear now - the multi-storey framework gives a real sense of just how substantial the building will be. Once the frame is complete, work will move on to the next phase of the build.

Steel Frame Racing Up! - 20/4/2026
Just one week since our last update, and the progress on site has been remarkable.
The steel frame has continued to go up at pace, and you can now see the structure taking real shape across multiple floors. The lift shaft is complete and standing tall, and more steelwork is being erected across the building. With the crane on site, the construction team has been working hard to keep the momentum going.
You can really start to see the scale and layout of the new school now - the steel framework clearly shows where different areas of the building will be, and it's exciting to watch it all come together so quickly.
Over the coming weeks, the steel frame will continue to rise as more of the structure is added. The building is finally taking form after all those months of groundwork!

The Building is Rising! - 15/4/2026
We're back from the Easter holidays, and there's been tremendous progress on site over the past couple of weeks.
Some of the steel frame for the new school has arrived and work began today on erecting it! You can see in the aerial photos that the structural steelwork is going up across the ground floor, with cranes on site lifting the steel beams and columns into place. This is exactly what the contractors told us we'd start to see - the building is finally rising from the ground.
The ground beams are now complete, and the steel framework is starting to go up across the site. Over the coming weeks, more steel will continue to be erected and the building will start to take its full form as the structure rises higher.
This is a really exciting phase of the build - after months of groundwork and foundations, the school is now visibly taking shape and you can start to get a real sense of the scale of the new building.
