Attendance and Behaviour

At Baskerville School, we recognise that regular attendance and positive behaviour are essential to helping every pupil feel safe, supported and ready to learn. We work closely with pupils, families and staff to promote good attendance and to understand and address any barriers that may affect a pupil’s ability to attend school regularly.

We understand that pupils with special educational needs may experience individual challenges that can affect attendance and behaviour. Our approach is therefore personalised, supportive and rooted in understanding each pupil’s needs. We aim to identify concerns at an early stage and work in partnership with families and relevant professionals to provide appropriate support and practical solutions.

Our approach to behaviour focuses on building positive relationships, encouraging emotional regulation and helping pupils develop the skills they need to communicate their needs and make positive choices. Clear expectations, consistency and positive reinforcement help create a calm, respectful and inclusive environment where pupils can feel secure and valued.

We believe that positive behaviour is closely connected to wellbeing, communication and a sense of belonging. Staff work to understand the reasons behind behaviour and use appropriate strategies to support pupils, while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries. Our aim is not simply to manage behaviour, but to help pupils develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond.
