Responding Carefully and Fairly

Safety, Support & Serious Concerns

Our response to concerns takes account of individual needs, the circumstances and the safety of pupils and staff. Prevention, early support and careful review are central to our approach.

Bullying, Discrimination & Harm

We take bullying, discrimination and harm between pupils seriously. Please raise concerns promptly with your child’s class team or the safeguarding team.

Concerns are considered through our behaviour and safeguarding procedures, with attention to the needs and safety of those involved.

Restrictive Physical Intervention

Physical intervention is treated as a last resort and must be necessary and proportionate. It is recorded and reviewed, with appropriate support and discussion afterwards.

Parents and carers are informed as soon as practicable, aiming for the same day, subject to safeguarding requirements. Reviews consider how the need for intervention could be reduced in future.

Suspension & Permanent Exclusion

These are formal decisions made in line with school policy and statutory guidance. Decisions take account of pupils’ needs, reasonable adjustments, previous support and the safety of others.

Families receive information about the reasons, education arrangements and the relevant rights to make representations or seek a review.

Supporting a Return to Learning

Following a suspension, reintegration planning focuses on helping the pupil return to learning with appropriate support.

We work with families and review whether changes to routines, relationships, staffing or provision are needed. The aim is to improve participation and reduce the likelihood of further difficulties.
