The Day
The Day
We are pleased to introduce The Day to Baskerville School – a digital literacy resource that provides engaging current affairs content designed specifically for young people.
What is The Day?
The Day delivers daily articles about real-world events, from scientific discoveries to environmental issues and technological developments. Each article is written to be accessible across different reading ages and includes discussion questions and activities to spark curiosity and conversation.
How will it help your child /young person?
The Day supports literacy development by providing high-interest content that builds reading confidence and understanding of the world. The platform's consistent format helps our autistic learners focus on the content itself, whilst the concrete, real-world topics provide engaging material for discussion.
Regular use of The Day helps young people develop:
Reading skills and confidence
Critical thinking abilities
Knowledge of current affairs
Discussion and citizenship skills
Using The Day at Home
You can support your young person's learning by accessing The Day at home using the QR code below. Simply scan the code to log in and explore the daily articles together. Teachers will use these articles as part of literacy lessons and tutor time activities at school, so discussing them at home is a great way to reinforce learning and start conversations about the world around us. We encourage you to ask your young person about what they've been reading and share your own thoughts about the topics covered.
