🎯 Skills Builder

At Baskerville, we use the Skills Builder Framework to help you build the key skills you’ll need for success in life, learning and work. These skills are used in everything – from making friends to doing a job. You practise them every day, and the more you build them, the more confident and independent you become.

There are eight essential skills we focus on:

  • Listening – Paying attention to others and understanding what they are saying.
  • Speaking – Sharing your ideas clearly and confidently.
  • Problem Solving – Finding ways to fix things when there’s a challenge.
  • Creativity – Coming up with new ideas and trying new ways of doing things.
  • Staying Positive – Keeping going even when things are hard, and believing in yourself.
  • Aiming High – Setting goals and working hard to achieve them.
  • Leadership – Supporting and guiding others to do their best.
  • Teamwork – Working well with others to reach a shared goal.

We help you develop these skills through your lessons, work experience, enterprise days, and everyday school life. You’ll often be asked to think about which skills you’ve used or want to grow next.
